Over the years, Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has consciously been taken steps to transform from a carmaker into a Sustainable carmaker. Our commitment towards a green future highlights the brand's efforts to protect natural resources and safeguard the environment.

Keeping the vision in mind, Ecozone was established with an intension to restore the native biodiversity.

What is Toyota Ecozone?

Toyota Ecozone is an experiential environmental learning center that is spread across 25 acres of land inside the TKM premises. It is a unique concept that includes 17 educational theme parks. These theme parks are designed to create a sense of ecological consciousness among children and various stakeholders. A visit to these theme parks will help them learn about the practical ways to reduce their impact on the environment and inculcate a sense of responsibility towards it.

Highlights of the Theme Parks

Toyota Plaza: This theme park showcases the product-related efforts of Toyota towards environment conservation. Toyota Plaza hosts the India Demonstration Center for Green Mobility, where the evolution of eco-friendly automobiles and various green mobility solutions of Toyota are displayed.

Forest theme park: Visitors learn about the forests and their importance with a walk amidst the Dry Deciduous Forest here. Ecozone also hosts three other Forest types – Moist Deciduous, Evergreen, and Semi-Evergreen Forests.

Value Theme Park: This theme park is designed to showcase the importance of waste management through the 6R concept. Visitors can learn about the critical issues of waste in our society and how it can be efficiently managed to ultimately lead a Zero Waste Society.

Underground Ecology: This theme park focuses on the importance of soil and life below the land. The detailed structures of earthworms, pangolin, honey badger, red harvester ants, subterranean termites, dung beetles, and cicadas are carefully moulded on the walls for a fascinating visual experience.

Silent Garden: Inspired by the Kare-Sansui (dry landscape) Zen Garden at Ryōan-ji, Kyoto, Japan, this theme park is aptly named as 'Silent Garden.' One can sit back and enjoy the sound of silence and meditate in peace, all the while learning the impacts of noise pollution on an individual's health.

Wetland Pavilion: A transition zone between terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems. Here, one can experience the diversity of the wetlands and learn the significance of traditional waterbodies, its self-cleansing nature, and how it acts as natural water drainage. It also covers the topic of importance of water for the survival of life on earth, and the ways to conserve it.

Pollination Meadow: Filled with flowering plants, Pollination Meadow is an establishment to communicate the importance of Pollinators for our Survival (FOOD SECURITY) while observing different species of butterflies.

Orchards and Medicinal Garden: This theme park introduces a collection of native medicinal plants, including rare and endangered ones. It serves as a live repository to create awareness about medicinal plants. This area is built on the concept of Sunken Gardens, which have been used for centuries in dry areas to conserve water.

Education Building: This building has been constructed using the Native Earth Building Concept. Traditionally, this form of sustainable architecture was adopted to build homes across India. In this concept, sustainability lies in the design, materials, and construction method. It includes elements such as natural lighting, rainwater harvesting, and treating wastewater without energy, thus minimizing the ecological footprint.

Rainwater Harvesting Ponds: Ecozone holds two Rainwater Harvesting Ponds of 51,000m3 capacity collectively. The visitors can learn about groundwater recharge and the importance of rainwater harvesting here.

Solar theme Park: Solar panels are installed near the Education Building, yielding up to 500KW of electricity. One can learn about solar energy generation and its benefits in this theme park.

Energy Theme Park: Energy theme park exhibits conventional energy and alternate energy sources with models and experiments. The newly constructed playground demonstrates different types of energy by using various outdoor props.

Organic Farming & Nursery: Organic farming depicts the natural ways of practicing agriculture without using harmful chemicals or fertilizers. Different native vegetables are grown here to demonstrate the health benefits of organic vegetables. The Nursery has the capacity of nursing 30,000 Saplings, which are distributed to various stakeholders/planted during commemorative days.

Timeline Walk: A unique outdoor timeline that is one-of-its-kind in the country. The timeline takes the visitors through a significant phase of the earth's evolution, starting 4.5 billion years ago, and the evolution of life on earth.

Climate Change: Located at the highest point of the Ecozone, this park invites visitors to look upon nature and take in all its beauty. It helps them learn about climate change and the consequences of rising temperatures. The visitors are also made aware of the individual responsibilities to be adopted. The journey towards this park is cleverly designed to guide people from a lush green forest to a desert landscape, depicting the reality we are facing now.

Biodiversity Theme Park: This theme park is an effort towards creating awareness on the importance of biodiversity for the survival of ecosystems, what impacts humans have on it, and how we can conserve biodiversity for our survival. Ecozone also has 38 rare and endangered plant species that belong to the IUCN Red List.

Sacred Groves Theme Park: For decades, people have found unique ways to protect arboreal life. Sacred Groves is a park that draws a connection between nature and religion. Toyota aims to promote the protection of trees through the lens of spirituality as well, with the help of this theme park.
